Presentations

I like to tackle game development from a slightly different angle, and I dislike being caught up in the norm. I also love teaching, and letting people in on my secrets! Perhaps you’ve seen me at some of these events:

  • Game Developer’s Conference
Austin, TX – 2009: Fantastic Contraption post-mortem (with Colin Northway), a 1 hour talk on what made FC so popular.
  • Global Game Jam
University of British Columbia, BC – 2010: Was a mentor to the GGJ attendees and spoke on a variety of subjects throughout.
  • Game Developer’s Conference
    San Francisco, CA – 2010:
Fantastic Contraption post-mortem II (with Colin Northway), a 1 hour talk on what made FC so popular.
  • Jalloo Animation and Games Festival
Miramachi, NB – 2010: How to make money with Flash games, a 1 hour talk geared as a general overview of the Flash industry, where it’s heading, and how to monetize well within it.
  • Jalloo Animation and Games Festival
Miramachi, NB – 2010: Participated in theĀ State of the Games Industry panel (with Ryan Creighton), a 45 minute panel discussing the games industry in general, where it’s heading, and where you can be the most successful.
  • Casual Connect
Seattle, WA – 2010: SteamBirds post-mortem, a 30-minute quick overview of the development process of the game and it’s unique marketing practices.

I’ve also been interviewed a few times. I’m mostly listing these so I can gaze fondly upon them from time to time:

And I do some other things, too:

  • OrcaJam
    Victoria, BC – 2010:
Organized and hosted a game jam in my hometown. International attendance with over 40 participants.
