Space Squid

Space SquidSpace Squid was the result of a test project and personal challenge. I had not coded in AS3 before, nor had I used Flash CS4 before. My Object-Oriented-Programming training was half-baked at best. I always wanted to make games, and I needed something to motivate me.

The challenge I put to myself was:

  • Envision a game
  • Iterate on it until it is fun
  • Learning AS3
  • Learning Flash CS4
  • Learning OOP
  • Blog about it Daily
  • … And do it all in 30 days.

I’m glad to say I was successful in creating a game. It uses my cute (but obviously untalented) art and made-by-the-mouth sound-effects, though I did purchase a nice music track from the fellows at Twune. Sadly, success is not something I have seen with Space Squid. I could not even get a flash gaming portal to take it for free, which kinda stings, but is understandable. I wasn’t expecting a breakout success with my first project – it was merely a training excercise. :)

My first blog post on Space Squid is this one here. You can see a complete collection of all SpaceSquid articles organized neatly here.
